This Week in Room 205!

March 2-6:  We are starting a poetry unit that focuses, heavily, on figurative language; one of the major Common Core Standards of 6th grade.  The unit should last up to spring break.

Weeks of February 18-21 & 24-28:  We have finally finished reading "Wonder" and are preparing for the movie; which we will watch next week.  The kids will be testing their skills in summarizing and compare and contrast with summative activities surrounding "Wonder" over the next two weeks and then we will print off and go over i-Ready winter scores and set new goals.

Week of January 27-31:  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are early release days due to the end of the semester.  We are finishing up December/January book reports to get them turned by the semester deadline and are coming to the end of "Wonder" the book.

Week of January 13-17:  This we we are conducting the winter i-Ready diagnostic.

Week of January 6-10:  We will be reminding students of classroom expectations, grading fake book reports (made by previous year's students) with the rubric and starting our first official Book Club meetings.

Week of December 16-20:  I will be out this week, as I am having surgery early Tuesday morning.  Mr. George Throop will be subbing in my classroom all week; and the kids are already familiar with him because he completed his student teaching at Daybreak during the last school year.  Book Club assignments have been given to all students and I will get all that info posted later today.

Week of December 9-13:  We are continuing with our deep dive into "Wonder" and the kids are really enjoying it.  Book Club will get rolled out Wednesday, so be looking to Google Classroom and the "Book Club" page on this website for group assignments.  I will not publicly post the groups, or the kids in them, so please check your emails for a quick note telling you what book your kiddo will be reading for Book Club.  Thanks.

Week of December 2-6:  We will be taking a closer look at book reports and the expectations, continued reading and work with "Wonder" and the launch of Book Clubs.
