Wonder Novel Study

In 6th grade, we chose to do a novel study of the book, "Wonder".  It is a fictional novel about a boy starting a new school and the trials and tribulations that can accompany a child with a physical disability/deformity.  The novel provokes thoughtful discussion from students about kindness, doing what's right, and difficult moments in the book could be changed for the better.  It also allows for a deeper sense of self-awareness and real world connections because the kids in the story are just a year younger than themselves, so it is extremely relatable and relevant.

It is a truly WONDERFUL book; and if you have not read it, I highly recommend it.

A quote or saying that motivates or guides someone; a "golden rule".

Every month, I choose a precept to display in the hallway classroom window, to mimic the character Mr. Browne, in the novel.  I also share a quote with students, every day, and we briefly discuss what we think it means.
